I know, I know. “Themed” Easter baskets? You’re thinking I’ve gone crazy because you know I love to simplify and not buy or have excess stuff in my home. Let me explain. These baskets are planned around items I’m going to get for my kids anyway. It’s not extra stuff that’s going to be strewn all over and clutter our space. The baskets typically revolve around a few items my kids can use for upcoming summer fun and family adventures.
The year we planted our first garden, I gave the kids little garden tools, garden gloves, and a sun hat. They helped us dig in the dirt, and we had a great time. They weren’t tempted to grab the bigger tools because they had their own and could participate in what we were doing. It was wonderful to work in the yard together as a family, and anytime we harvested something from the garden, they were pretty proud of themselves.
Another year, I put new swimsuits, flip flops, and a sun hat in the baskets. My kids loved it, and they got really excited about their upcoming swim lessons.
Think of items your child could use and get creative! Here are some ideas to get your gears turning.
